Stars Gala 2024 arrives at the Teatro Principal of Alicante
The most anticipated event of the year arrives at the Teatro Principal of Alicante with world-renowned ballet stars.
- Stars Gala will take place on Saturday, July 27th, at 20:00, at Alicante’s Teatro Principal, featuring some of the world’s greatest ballet stars.
- Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy performances of the famous classical ballet, such as "Paquita", "La Sylphide", and "The Flames of Paris", alongside pieces of neoclassical and contemporary dance by the most renowned choreographers of our time.

Stars Gala, organized by the National Association of Professional Ballet, presents its eleventh edition, attracting outstanding international artists to offer a unique experience of art and talent. Stars Gala, a renowned international project and the largest production of classical ballet in Alicante, is distinguished not only for its artistic excellence but also for its ability to connect and enrich both the local community and the global dance scene. The event is an unmissable event for culture lovers.
Alejandro Virelles
The guest stars will be accompanied by a corps de ballet of professional RMB students and live musicians in some pieces, bringing together nearly a hundred artists on the stage of the Teatro Principal. Additionally, for this year, new dance pieces by the most renowned choreographers of our time have been prepared, including classical ballet pieces such as Marius Petipa's "Paquita", "La Sylphide", and "The Flames of Paris", as well as some neoclassical and contemporary dance pieces.

The director of the National Association of Professional Ballet, Asiya Lukmanova, has commented, “although surpassing the quality of our exceptional event, as the one we always present, our objective remains to continue surprising and delivering an outstanding performance. We have confirmed the participation of esteemed artists, providing attendees with an exceptional experience".
The cast for the 2024 edition will feature internationally renowned artists of the highest artistic and technical level from major theaters. Among the confirmed artists are Anna Ol and James Stout (Dutch National Ballet), Tatiana Melnik (Hungarian National Ballet), Dmitry Zagrebin (Royal Swedish Ballet), Evgeniya V. González (Czech National Ballet), Alejandro Virelles (Guest Principal Dancer), Francesca Velicu (English National Ballet), Patrik Benak (Junior Company of Dutch National Ballet), and Nacho Duato Company.
Patrik Benak
The proceeds from the gala will be allocated to support a scholarship program and provide direct aid to dance students facing economic and social challenges. The National Association of Professional Ballet has been committed to using the art of classical ballet to benefit society, always collaborating with artists who share these values.
The gala will feature various performances, including the Pas de Deux from "After the Rain" by Christopher Wheeldon, performed by Anna Ol and James Stout; "Les Lutins" by Johann Kobborg, performed by Dmitry Zagrebin, Francesca Velicu, and Jorge Palacios; "Jardi Tancat" by the Nacho Duato Company; "Paquita" by Marius Petipa, performed by Tatiana Melnik and Alejandro Virelles; and "La Sylphide," performed by Evgenia V. González and Patrik Benak.
Confirmed artists
- Anna Ol, a principal dancer of the Dutch National Ballet, this beautiful and incomparable ballerina is unanimously acclaimed by press and public alike. She has been decorated with a multitude of awards, including the Grand Prix d'Ulanova in 2008, Arabesque Competition in 2010. In 2018, she was named 'Best Dancer of the Year' at the British Critics' Choice.
- James Stout, a principal dancer of the Dutch National Ballet, began his career in Argentine tango before training at the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver and the Royal Ballet School in London. Joining the Dutch National Ballet in 2007, James Stout was promoted to soloist in 2012-2013 and later to principal dancer in 2018.
- Dmitry Zagrebin, a principal dancer of the Royal Swedish Ballet, graduated from the Choreographic Academy of Moscow and passed the competition to join the Bolshoi Ballet. He has also been performing with the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre, Queensland ballet (Australia) and Aalto Ballet (Germany).In 2015 he joined the Royal Swedish Ballet as a soloist, where he soon became the principal dancer.
- Francesca Velicu, a junior soloist with the English National Ballet, trained at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography before joining the Romanian National Ballet in 2015 and the English National Ballet in 2016. She won the 2017 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance for her performance as The Chosen One in Pina Bausch’s Le Sacre du printemps.
- Tatiana Melnik, a principal dancer with the Hungarian National Ballet, graduated from the Perm State Ballet School in 2006 and worked at the The Russian State Ballet Theatre until 2013. She achieved third place at the Arabesque Ballet Competition in 2012 and second place at the Moscow International Ballet Competition in 2013.
- Alejandro Virelles, a guest principal dancer from Cuba, has been honored in international competitions and has performed with renowned ballet companies such as Staatsballett Berlin and English National Ballet. His dedication and talent continue to inspire audiences worldwide, leaving a lasting mark on the art of ballet.
- Evgeniya V. González, currently a soloist dancer with the Czech National Ballet, she has performed with major companies such as the Mariinsky in St. Petersburg and the Bayerisches Staatsballett. She has won important awards and has participated in several international galas.
- Patrik Benak, a dancer with the Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet, joined the RMB camp at the age of 12, showing remarkable commitment and passion for dance ever since. After graduating from the Vaganova Academy, he has graced the stages of the Mariinsky and the Mikhailovsky.
- CND NACHO DUATO: The NACHO DUATO Junior Company is born with the noble mission of enriching the dance scene in Spain and expanding job opportunities for young dancers. One of the company's main pillars is the revival of Nacho Duato's repertoire. His ballets are genuine treasures that deserve to be preserved and shared with new generations of audiences and artists.
