“The main task of the event planner is to create the right atmosphere”

Interview with Olga Shcherbakova, professional event planner and founder of OS Events in Spain

What is the philosophy of OS Events?

OS Events is responsible for organizing corporate and private events for companies or individuals started from:

• Wedding events – marriage proposals, ceremonies, weddings, anniversaries

• Family events – birthdays, children’s parties, anniversaries of any format;

• Corporate and business events – conferences, business lunchs, official receptions, exhibitions.

We also professionally develop individual and group tours.

What is your main advantage?

We provide more complex services: our team is made up of professional managers with a lot of experience in the sector. This ensures that each project carried out is impregnated with a special atmosphere and becomes relevant and memorable for our clients for many years. For example, in an event such as a wedding, photographers, makeup artists, professional florists, among other experts in the field participate, because for each bride, it’s very important that the photos, as well as your special day, goes perfectly. In celebrations and banquets it’s necessary that the catering is the best, to meet the needs of the most demanding customers. In case of travel, it’s very important that everything is clear: guides, transfers, restaurants and hotels are always verified.

What are the main qualities in the work of the event planner?

From my point of view, on the one hand, it’s necessary to find a common language with many different people, to be able to communicate, listen to their preferences and desires, be attentive and take care of the details. On the other hand, it’s important to get along with your suppliers, look for commitments, be able to negotiate, understand their position, react quickly to unforeseen situations and skilfully get out of them. Also, to have in mind a lot of tasks and information, endure stress very well and most importantly: love people and interact with them.

Has the event industry been affected by the crisis associated with the pandemic?

I wouldn’t say that the reflection is only negative, because I’m sure that crises, in general, always bring new opportunities. Despite the crisis, people still want to rest, receive positive emotions and not give up holidays and travel. When we’re dedicated to the organization of events, we’re creating in people positive moods, smiles, and unforgettable emotions.

What are your professional plans for 2022?

Work, create and not stop! In fact, most of the dates for this year are reserved, however, we’re happy to receive and carry out new projects. We always try to find time for things we like and and things that inspire us, so I’m sure that the year will be productive and interesting.
