Interview with Anelia Anguelova, Administrator of Óptica Costa Blanca (Calpe)

How has Óptica Costa Blanca evolved since it opened?

Since its opening in 1975 as the first Dutch optician’s in Altea, Óptica Costa Blanca has undergone a remarkable transformation in terms of services, technology and fashion. Over the years, we have maintained a distinctive hallmark: offering the customers a close and personalised service, reflecting the essence and family values that have been the basis of the success and growth. We are human beings who work side by side with others, and we understand that empathy is essential in every interaction.

How does Óptica Costa Blanca stand out from other opticians in the region?

What really sets us apart is our multilingual capability. We speak seven languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Bulgarian and Russian. This linguistic ability has allowed us to gain the trust of our clients, especially since 80% of our audience is foreign. In addition, we have been fortunate to have many loyal customers over the years, which speaks for the quality and service we offer.

The brands you handle are high-end. How do you select the brands and models you offer in the shops?

Our priority has always been to offer products of the highest quality. To do so, we select brands recognised worldwide for their excellence and design, such as Cartier, DITA, Dior, Gucci, Prada, Chopard, ProDesign, Face à face, Ray-Ban, Silhouette, among others.

The selection process is based on the brand’s reputation, the quality of its materials and design innovation.

In addition, we are constantly updating our collections to include the latest fashion trends, whether in metal, plastic or titanium frames. In this way, we ensure that our customers always have access to the latest developments in the world of optics.

What can you say about the technology you use?

We have always been committed to innovation and cutting-edge technology. We use special devices for cutting lenses, guaranteeing precision and adaptability to different frames.

We are specialists in progressive lenses, and we work with leading brands such as Varilux, which offer a guarantee of adaptation and satisfaction. Our state-of-the-art machinery allows us to customise lenses according to the specific needs of each client.

We also have retinographs, essential tools for obtaining detailed images of the back of the eye; a tonometer to measure intraocular pressure; Visioffice, an advanced tool that allows us to take various measurements, such as determining the coefficient of movement between the head and the eye, heights, interpupillary distances, frame inclination and curvature. The combination of this advanced technology with our in-depth collaboration with highly qualified opticians and optometrists, throughout the optician’s career, ensures comprehensive monitoring and comprehensive care for our customers’ visual health.

And, of course, our commitment doesn’t end with the sale. We offer exceptional after-sales service, and as a sign of our confidence in the quality of our products and services, we don’t charge for repairs.

How do you help customers choose their perfect glasses?

The process starts by understanding the customer’s needs and preferences. Based on their search criteria, such as the type of lens they need and the shape of their face, we select the glasses that best suit them.

Once we have determined the correct prescription, through precise visual examinations, we offer the model that we consider optimal for the client, taking into account both functionality and aesthetics. In addition, we understand that the colour of the frames is a personal choice and we offer a wide variety of colours so that you can choose the one you like best.

Finally, we recommend that our customers have their eyesight checked at least every 2 years. This allows us to make sure that your prescription is still appropriate and that your eyes are in perfect health.

In terms of future plans, what changes can we expect to see at Óptica Costa Blanca in the coming years?

There are several exciting initiatives on the horizon.

First and foremost, we will continue to invest in our exclusive collections: we will continue to incorporate the latest technologies and trends in optics, ensuring that our customers have access to the best on the market.

In addition, we are planning a renovation of our shop in Calpe. This will include a change to the façade and entrance, with the aim of making the space more welcoming and modern.

These changes are just the beginning of what we hope will be a series of improvements and expansions in the coming years. Our aim is to continue to lead the industry and offer our customers a service that is second to none.
